When I told our foreman, Dean, that we were expecting a number of "WWOOFers" this spring, summer, and fall, I thought I noted a tone of trepidation in his response. Ryan and Stefano arrived for a long weekend in January and returned again in February, and their wonderful temperaments and "gameness" assuaged his fears... somewhat.
And now that Forrest has been here for a few weeks, Dean's starting to think that maybe WWOOFers are pretty cool folks.
Indeed, this is a wonderful program. I have yet to meet anyone but high-quality people, people who are aware of the State of the World politically, environmentally, and socially. It is a pleasure to share my life and resources with them.
Forrest is no exception. We have begun the learning curve journey into fertilizers and seeds. He's proven to be a top-notch research assistant! We've discussed barriers put in place by lawmakers and bureaucrats. He received my idea of making Public Service videos with so much enthusiasm, you'd have thought I'd offered him the moon, the sky and the rest of the Universe. Indeed, we are enjoying exploring the Unknown together and a finer time traveler I've rarely met.
This week, we're expecting another WWOOFer, and we expect that she will bring new perspectives and wonderful ideas.
