USDA released its draft EIS on December 14, 2009. A 60-day comment period is now open until February 16, 2010.
The corporation that owns seeds owns Life-- and controls all humans.
This is Monsanto's goal. If you are unfamiliar with this issue, please watch these two videos. The information they show is only TIP of the iceberg. You can expand your video search on YouTube or search Google, searching the word, "Monsanto," if you want to learn more. What you will find is terrifying.
This is a link to a You-tube video that shows how aggressive Monsanto is with regard to attacking our own farmers:
Please, relay this message to anyone you know who is even remotely likely to take some action against this corporate giant. With the most recent ruling by the Supreme Court, which stated it is legal for corporations to make unlimited contributions to political candidates running for the Congress, the Senate, and even the Presidency, ALL we have is our collective voices. Please write your congressman, contact the USDA, and please subscribe to Food and Water Watch.
As a small-rancher I am adamantly opposed to the ownership of seed, patented or otherwise. It is a human right, one with thousands of years precedent, for farmers to harvest seeds for use on next year's crop.
In addition to this, the modification of genes is permanently altering and damaging food crops. Monsanto's internal tests regarding GMO safety are documented as unscientific, incomplete and distorted. Having an industry police its own safety practices is akin to asking a Fox to be sure to secure the Hen House door. Outside testing consistently shows Monsanto's "science" lacks scientific integrity. Scientists who have spoken against this corporate giant have been fired; funding institutions have lost funding and faced law suits.
As a human who has suffered profoundly from the impacts of nuclear radiation, heavy metal and chemical exposures, and as one who depends upon pure food as my very lifeline, I implore you to stand up against this heinous FrankenGiant.
